CITIZEN SPOTLIGHT: Mayor Rosalyn McKay

Hello, and welcome to our brand new website! My name is Rosalyn McKay, and I have the great privilege of serving as Mayor of Snowberry Creek. I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our town.

Snowberry Creek was founded by Leroy Wolfe, who brought his family to the Pacific Northwest back in 1880. History tells us that as soon as he saw the creek, he decided it was the perfect place to raise his young family. He built a sawmill, and the town grew up around it, with Wolfe and his family expanding their business interests in the area. Our founder's direct descendents still live in the Wolfe House, which has been designated as an official historical site.

Today, the town has a growing population of approximately 1500 people, counting the surrounding area. Located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains south of Seattle, Snowberry Creek is nestled in the small valley along the glacier fed stream. Surrounded by towering Douglas firs and cedars, the town has maintained its rustic charm with old fashioned architecture, including several beautiful old Victorian homes. Located near a national forest, the area is rich with rivers and streams and the Cascade Mountains form a backdrop to the east. Glimpses Mount Rainier and Mount St. Helens add to the beauty and charm of the scenery.
