CITIZEN SPOTLIGHT: Callie Redding

Well, here it is July already! I hope all of you are taking advantage of this gorgeous weather to enjoy all the wonderful activities that our town and the surrounding areas have to offer. Even if you don’t have time to for any long excursions, I’d suggest grabbing a burger and a shake at Gary’s Drive-in and enjoy lunch or dinner down by the river! Of course, you’ll need to take a long hike to walk off those calories, but his food is so good that it’s worth the price!

And now to this month’s interview. I know you all will join me in welcoming one of our own to this month’s Spotlight . . . Callie Redding!

Welcome to the hot seat, Callie! I appreciate your taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down for a chat with me. How does it feel to be back here in your hometown after spending the last few years moving all over the place?

Thanks for having me, Madam Mayor, and to answer your question, I’m really glad to be back home. I’ve had my adventures, and now I’m ready to settle down right here in Snowberry Creek. For sure my folks are glad that Nick and I have decided to make this our home.

Please call me Rosalyn, Callie. But speaking as mayor, I want you to know that I’m particularly glad that the two of you are starting not one, but two new businesses here in town. I’ve been keeping an eye on the progress you’re making on the bed-and-breakfast. It’s going to be a lovely place for visitors to come spend some time in our town. And I know that other people will be standing in line to have Nick and his friend Leif do their remodeling. They’re doing a beautiful job on your house!

I’ll let them know you said so. I’ve been posting pictures on our website showing all the work in progress. When I go back and look at the photos from the beginning, I can’t believe how much we’ve accomplished and how beautiful the old place is becoming. We’ve also benefited from a lot of neighbors and friends pitching in to help us.

Other than meeting Nick and Mooch, what other things have made you happy to come back to town?

Well, I love Bridey’s coffee shop, although I probably shouldn’t test as many of her newest creations as I do. I also enjoy reconnecting with old friends like Melanie Wolfe and Zoe Phillips. I also have to agree with you about Dave’s Drive-in. I’ve eaten a lot of burgers in my travels, and none compare with his.

Well, I had better let you get back to work, Callie. Again, thanks for stopping by the office to talk to me today. Next time we cross paths at Something’s Brewing, the coffee is on me!

“I’ll hold you to that!

Well, that’s it for another month. Enjoy your summer days, folks!
